According to a press release issued earlier today, for a limited time Pizza Hut will be offering any (and I mean ANY) pizza for ten bucks in 2010:

For ten bucks, pizza fans will be able to pick any size pizza they want, select from more than a dozen topping options, and choose from Pizza Hut's signature crusts - including Pan Pizza, Hand Tossed Style Pizza, and Thin 'N Crispy® Pizza. All Pizza Hut specialty pizzas, such as Meat Lovers® and Supreme, are also included in the deal. For a dollar more, customers can enjoy Pizza Hut's signature crust, Stuffed Crust Pizza. Pizza Hut's $10 offer will be available for a limited time and no coupon is required.
Given that a lot of their specialty pizzas run up to about $18 a pop, this is a pretty good deal.  Oh wait, do you hear that sound?  That’s my new years resolution breaking.  (Or was that my arteries?)

TIMES UK: Best Cure For Hangover – Bacon Sandwich?

alcohol_hangover1

"Screw the bottle, where’s my sammich!"

According to today’s Times UK, the best cure for a hangover actually prevention: basically lots of fluids before, during and after a binge session. However, if it's too late, try reaching for a bacon sandwich:

A recent study at Newcastle University’s Centre for Life confirmed that a bacon [sandwich] can indeed provide relief. “Bread doesn’t soak up alcohol but is high in carbohydrates that boost blood-sugar levels and speed up the metabolism, helping to get rid of alcohol quickly,” says the researcher Elin Roberts. “Bingeing on alcohol depletes brain neurotransmitters but bacon, which is rich in protein, contains amino acids that top these up and make you feel better.”
Then again, do you really need another reason to eat bacon?

NOTE TO JOURNALISTS: “Haywood Jablome” Is A Fake Name

haywood

Oh dear. Yet another rookie journalist and/or clueless copy editor fell for the old "Haywood Jablome" pseudonym. (Think about it.) This time it's reporter Dave Wallis for The Forum, which is based in Fargo, North Dakota. No word yet on whether Mike Hunt or Hugh Jass works for the paper as well.

Jib Jab, the same folks who can transform your family & co-workers into terrifying dancing elves, has come up with a pretty good summary of the outgoing year. Check out the video below.  Too bad they didn't teach my American History class back in high school:
