Restaurant Named ‘Obama Fried Chicken’ Is Pissing Off A Lot of People
According to the NY Times, a Brooklyn restaurateur and an avid fan of the new president decided to change the name of his eatery in order to pay homage to his favorite head of state ... much to the dismay of the surrounding community.
When the restaurant, Royal Fried Chicken changed its name last week to Obama Fried Chicken the neighborhood denizens weren’t too pleased.
“Community leaders came. They told us we have to change the name,” said Mohammad Jabbar, 33, the manager. “They said if you don’t change it they will take action.”
Explaining the decision to rename the restaurant, Mr. Jabbar said that not only was the owner fond of President Obama but that the entire neighborhood also “loved” him.
“From this love, everything is happening,” Mr. Jabbar continued.
Just looking at the awning in front of the store you can see they serve just about everything that swims, grazes, clucks and melts.
So, on the one hand, it's pretty unfortunate that the owner happened to choose the one incendiary and controversial item after which to name his restaurant.
On other hand, people of Brooklyn: BUILD A BROOKLYN BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT!! It's JUST fried chicken!!! I’d be angry if it weren’t good in the first place!!
