Deep Fried Love at M&M Soul Food of Carson, CA

101_2587 I think I realize why it’s called “soul food”: either it’s good for the soul or (if you eat too much of it) it’ll surely make you into one.

The other day the Bitchy Boyfriend was raving about the fried chicken at M&M Soul Food and that I absolutely had to give it a try. Since I can even eat a defibrillator if it’s been deep fried, I simply couldn't pass this up.

Being that it was a Sunday, we were expecting an enormous church crowd, lines of patrons pouring out the door and a restaurant filled to capacity like a blocked artery. However, at this particular location in Carson, CA this wasn't the case at all. Could it be the recession? Could it be a citywide stroke epidemic? Who knows. All I cared about was my damn chicken. Feed me!!!

101_2586 Each meal came with three side dishes. On this occasion, I opted for the collard greens, black eyed peas and the yams; not so much because I heard they make them well (which they do), but more so to appease the gods of cardiovascular health. In other words, I was preparing my arteries for the onslaught .... And, thank Madonna for my foresight!

Behold la pièce de résistance: M&M's Fried Chicken.  This crisp and lightly breaded morsel of soul food goodness was a deadly confection of poultry satisfaction at its delicious best.

101_2588Sure it was a bit on the greasy/salty side, but nowhere near as bad as the stuff the Colonel feeds you.  Then again, you don’t come to these kind of establishments if you’re worried about your ticker.

In fact, if you think of a sensible diet like a healthy monogamous relationship, then you come to M&M for that torrid extra-marital affair. That is, it’s probably not a good idea, but DAYUM does it feel sooooooo good!
