Break of Dawn: The Best Mom & Pop Brunch.... EVAH!!

Yesterday (Sunday) I visited one of my favorite haunts of all time, Break of Dawn, which is located here deep, deep, deep in Orange County, California.

For those of you that do not live near the vicinity, I'm not showing these pictures to torture you, rather to show you what a small, mom-n-pop restaurant should be like..... at minimum.

The Menu Cover

This hard to find eatery is truly located in a shitty-ass location. Wedged in a tired strip-mall, the Asian/European fusion restaurant is encompassed by a senior citizen demographic whose palates and sense of adventure have departed long ago. And, what's worse? It's about as difficult to find as Robin William's attention span.

In fact, during peak brunch hour (high noon), my companions and I simply waltzed into our seats within seconds .... something unheard of in a county where Denny's and Mimi's Cafe are known to have at least a one hour wait.

Personally, I think most (if not all) of the patrons have discovered this place thanks to little food blogs, like yours truly.

However, due to the factors I mentioned, I think this place's days are numbered. They rarely fill their tables! Hence the reason for my blog and my insistence that you patronize.... toute suite!

The chef's menu is split in two: the left side contains more of the traditional, safer fare (french toast, sandwiches, etc.). Whereas the right side contains more the daring stuff you see in these pictures.

What is truly amazing about about the cuisine is that you get daring, creative and delicious food..... for about $12 a person!! How can they possibly do that!? How do they stay open?! When can I go again?!

In my ever so humble opinion, this is what a small, no chain restaurant should be all about. Without the pesky and involuntary bankruptcy closure, of course.
